Rowbuy Spreadsheet calculators: chargeable grams and a free-storage countdown

How to use the calculators on this site. The arithmetic uses Rowbuy's published numbers and happens inside this page; your figures never leave the tab. They settle two pairs that words handle badly.

Scale grams versus box grams

Enter the scale weight and, if you know them, the three edges of the box. The calculator works out the dimensional weight with the divisors found in Rowbuy's line data (6,000 for the US lines, 8,000 for Canada), keeps whichever reading is larger and prices it on each line: for the US, CNY 135 covers the opening 500 g and each later 500 g block adds CNY 39 (lower-rate line) or CNY 40; for Canada, a CNY 30 base takes CNY 7.10 more per 100 g started. Dollars use Rowbuy's October 21 rate of 0.1476.

Parcel measurements

Try the worked example from the weight pairs: 1200 grams in a 34 by 26 by 14 box. Then shave two centimetres off the deepest edge and watch the US figure drop a step. That is the whole argument for asking Rowbuy to remove spare packaging.

Arrival date against the ninety-day mark

Rowbuy's homepage promises up to 120 days of storage with the first 90 free. Enter the date your oldest item turned Stored and the countdown returns the last free day, the ceiling, and how many free days are left from today. Use the oldest item, because one parcel waits for its slowest member.

Storage dates

The charge for days 91 to 120 is not published, so the tool cannot price it. If you are past day 90, ask support before anything else.

Reading the numbers the calculators return

The weight result gives billable weight, a yuan figure and a dollar figure per line. Read the billable weight first: if it is well above your scale reading, the box is the problem and repacking is the fix. Read the yuan figure as a planning number. The final bill uses the carrier's scale after packing, which is usually a little heavier than your own estimate.

If a line shows "over the limit", that line refuses the weight: the Canada line in the data stops at 30 kg. Split the parcel. If you ship somewhere other than the US or Canada, the calculator has nothing to price, because Rowbuy's estimator returned no line for the other countries we tried.
