Rowbuy Spreadsheet Pairbook

Rowbuy choosing pairs: who sells, who buys, and which photo to trust

Six pairs that come before any money moves. They cover how to judge a seller, how to check QC photos, which products still make sense after the freight bill, and how to tell a useful Spreadsheet site from a stale one.

Seller and agent

Seller

Owns the listing: sets price, options, stock and quality. Ships to the Rowbuy warehouse.

Shop name above the product title

Agent

Rowbuy: buys on your behalf, photographs, stores, packs and ships. Does not make the product.

Your Rowbuy account

Swap costblaming the agent for a poor product, or trusting a listing because the agent looks professional.

Every Rowbuy product page carries a disclaimer next to the buy button: items come from third-party platforms, the platform "provides search, purchasing, and forwarding only" and "cannot verify quality or authenticity". It also states the purchase hours: after payment, the team buys during a 09:00 to 18:00 window on China time (UTC+8).

So vet the seller yourself. Signals we found useful on Rowbuy's product pages: the shop name printed above the title (names with "flagship" or a famous label in them were the first thing we filtered out), the stock counter (5 or fewer means it may sell out before Rowbuy buys), and whether the option names are clear or a jumble of sizes and gifts. A good seller writes option names you can understand; a careless one hides the real price in option twelve.

Judging the agent is a separate test, and it is covered in the Rowbuy file: what is published, what is not, and when to choose someone else.

Listing photos and QC photos

Listing photos

Made by the seller, the same for every buyer, often styled or retouched.

Product page gallery

QC photos

Taken free by Rowbuy at the warehouse, of the item that will travel to you.

Account, after the QC notice

Swap costapproving QC photos by comparing them with your memory of the listing instead of the listing itself.

How to check QC photos, in the order we would do it. Open the listing next to the photo set. Check the option first: colour name and size label against what you selected, because the default option on Rowbuy pages may differ from the one in the lead photo. Then shape and proportion: a cropped hoodie should look cropped. Then the details that cost money later: seams, zips, buckles, print alignment, and for glass or frames, chips and scratches.

Rowbuy lists no photo count and no fee for extra shots, so if one angle is missing, ask before you approve. Measurements are worth asking for on jeans and belts, where the seller's chart may not match the item.

Taobao listing and 1688 listing

Taobao listing

Retail. One piece is fine; every Taobao page we opened showed a minimum order of 1.

Taobao source button in Rowbuy search

1688 listing

Wholesale. Prices come in quantity bands; the first band sets how many you must buy.

1688 source button in Rowbuy search

Swap costadding a 1688 item to the cart at its lowest band price without noticing it is sold in packs of ten.

Rowbuy's search shows three source buttons above the results: 1688, Taobao and Weidian. On October 24 we used them for every pick on this site. The Taobao button worked each time. The 1688 button returned "No products found" on all thirty-six queries, and the response behind the page carried an authorisation error; the Weidian button failed too when we tried it. Pasting a direct 1688 or Weidian link, or using Fill&buy, is the fallback when that happens.

The difference between the two marketplaces still matters once the button works again. Retail listings sell singles and show a retail price. Wholesale listings print a price ladder, and the cheapest number belongs to the biggest quantity. Read the first band, the smallest quantity you are allowed to buy, before comparing it with a Taobao price.

Spreadsheet catalogue and agent order desk

Spreadsheet catalogue

A browsing site: shelves of products, notes and dated prices. No account, no payment.

This site and others like it

Agent order desk

Rowbuy itself: cart, payments, warehouse, QC, parcels. Where the order exists.

rowbuy.com, logged in

Swap costpaying a third party that calls itself a Spreadsheet, or expecting the catalogue to fix an order.

How to choose a Spreadsheet site you can lean on, whichever agent you use. First, dates: an undated price tells you little, and Chinese listings change price and stock weekly. Second, links that work: open three at random. Third, honesty about gaps: a site that says "we could not find the service fee" is more useful than one that invents it. Fourth, a named editor and a way to report a dead link.

Apply the same test to this one. Every price on our shelves carries the date we read it, the shelves were checked on the product pages, not copied from search, and the about page says who writes it and how to send a correction.

GL and RL

GL

Buyer slang for approving the QC photos. At Rowbuy: "approve to move the item into your parcel".

QC review, approve button

RL

Buyer slang for raising a concern. At Rowbuy: "raise a concern if something's wrong".

QC review, raise a concern

Swap costgiving a GL by reflex because the item looks roughly right, then finding the wrong size at home.

The letters come from buyer forums, where green light and red light became the shorthand for those two choices. Rowbuy itself never uses them; its help article talks about approving and raising a concern. They are worth knowing only because other buyers will use them when you ask for a second opinion on a photo set.

A reasonable RL is specific: wrong colour name on the label, a different size tag, a stain, a broken buckle. "Does not look like the photo" is weaker. Point at the exact difference and say what you want: a return, a replacement, or more photos.

A product worth the freight and a product that only looks cheap

Worth the freight

Its price, plus a fair share of the parcel, still beats buying it locally.

Our shelves, price on each card

Only looks cheap

Cheap on the listing, expensive once it carries a parcel minimum on its own.

Estimator, at the 500 g minimum

Swap costordering one $1.59 ring as a single parcel and paying about $19.93 to the US.

How to choose a product with freight in mind. Start from the parcel, not the item: the US lines charge at least 500 g, CNY 135, about $19.93 at Rowbuy's October rate. Light, small things such as rings, beanies and atomizers barely move the scale and fill gaps in a parcel that is already paying for a step. Heavy and bulky things such as jackets, shoes and backpacks set the step themselves.

A simple rule we use for the shelves: pair one bulky item with several light ones, check the dimensional weight before paying, and never ship a single cheap item alone. Before you pay anything, open the weight calculator.
